Saturday, January 31, 1948

went after Ivards check to Nampa & couldn't get it until after 3: so we went to get window fixed. couldn't get it until they sent to Boise so we went up to sale yard. got check & car & groceries & feed & got home at 6: did chores & went to bed. Gails to Stokers.

Friday, January 30, 1948

Went over to Lees & Ivard got hay while I went to Adrian & got gas & marked 2 pr. garments for Lee. came home & Ivard & Lee went to sale. I watered cows, read Bible & got books up. got ready & went & got Lee & Syble & went to Nyssa to reception on Roy Bair. danced until midnight. sure had fun. we weren't invited but Roy said we were supposed to.

Thursday, January 29, 1948

Lee came over & hauled our car over to Bishops & they worked on it all day and got it running. froze up & needed a new fan belt, & distributor cap. I made a cake & salad & fixed a box lunch & we went up to school to the box soical. Lyle & Jerry went too. Ivard bought my lunch. We ate with Stokers. read Bible awhile.

Wednesday, January 28, 1948

Genes 4th birthday. Made cake, icecream & roasted 2 chickens & made dressing. Ivard went to Parma after his suit. we ate & Kids did dishes & I bathed & we got ready to go to Gold & Green Ball but car wouldn't run so we called Glen & he called Stan & Stan came after us. We got there in time for floor show. sure had fun. got home at 1: A.M. awful cold. Gene got pants & sweater from Ma.

Tuesday, January 27, 1948

did up work & we went over to Sybles after hay. I came back & got Ivards suit & we went to Parma and delivered avon & got groceries. came back & brought hay home & I had supper all ready when Kids came from school. got clothes in & did dishes while Ivard milked then he went out missionarying & I had a facial & washed my hair & removed superf. hair Lyle stayed to Stokers.

Monday, January 26, 1948

Ivard went over to Glens to get a hair cut but he wasn't home. We washed; 2 weeks. relief society teachers came then I went & got Mrs. Ricks & we went relief society teaching. Ivard had supper about ready. We ate & he went ward teaching & I tended my clothes. Ivard came home at 8:15 & got us & we all went to Adrian to Basketball game. We beat Stunzt. I was official score keeper.

Sunday, January 25, 1948

Cold north wind all day. We all went to sunday school. Ivard went to leadership meeting at Weiser after. I did dishes & baked bread & fed Kids. Kay & I went over to Glens after Ivard at 5:30 & ate supper. Gail went to Stokers. Ivard was made sec. of 70's today. had ward teachers. wrote Ma.

Saturday, January 24, 1948

didn't feel good today. did a little patching. Ivard burned weeds all day. I went over & got eggs from Syble. We ate & went over to Glen & Adds to a party on Eddie. Max & Rodey were there too. got home at midnight.

Friday, January 23, 1948

nice day again. I washed milker & made a cake. I sure awful, my cold is worse. Ivard made rabbit pens all day. we took Kids to Primary & went up to Stans until it was out. We ate & Ivard & Mr. Carlson went out missionarying.

Thursday, January 22, 1948

swell spring day. Ivard & I went over to Lees this morning & got a load of hay. went to bed with Kid after lunch. Add & Glen came awhile. Ivard went to basketball practice. I started to read the Bible.

Wednesday, January 21, 1948

spent all day cleaning & scrubbing for Gails party. Ivard helped me with lunch. We had icecream, cake & punch. Kids had fun. Ivard took Kids home. Lyle stayed down to Stokers. We were too late for church so we went up to Stans & talked religion until 2:30 A.M.

Tuesday, January 20, 1948

Lyle & Kay home again. Ivard & I went over to Lees & got eggs. Ivard got cold water, piped into sink today, went to sale with Lee. I don't feel very good. ate & Ivard went out missionarying & I did dishes & got books up.

Monday, January 19, 1948

Lyle stayed home with a bad cold & Kay with his sore hand. I baked bread, churned butter, did dishes made chicken noodle soup. Ivard went to sale & worked on water system, ate, got kids to bed & went & got Ken Olsen & went to Nyssa to basketball.

Sunday, January 18, 1948

ate & All went to sunday school. I was set apart today. After we went over to Stans, he gave us 4 hens & rooster but one hen smothered comeing home so we cleaned her to ate & Ivard did chores. nice sunny day.

Saturday, January 17, 1948

Ivard & Kids went & got about 30 rabbits & Pens from Smiths & over to Lees & got load of hay. I scrubbed & cleaned whole house & made chilli. I washed my & Ivards hair & we all had a bath. good day.

Friday, January 16, 1948

Stan came & took Ivard to Nampa. me & kids went delivering Avon & to Parma to Put checks in bank. Came home & Ivard was to Farm Sale. I went after him & we were there until dark. Stan, Louise, Lawrence, Afton, Ray & Lee & us, sure got cold, drain froze.

Thursday, January 15, 1948

I finished my iorning & Ivard worked on pressure system, get water but it doesn't work right. went to Nampa & got check & Ivard got a 30 day leave of absence from rail Road. Went over to Lee's & got 2 cows back.

Wednesday, January 14, 1948

Ivard worked on pump all day. I sure feel awful. have a bad cold. We ate & went to Mutual, had Show after. sure good. Lyle went too. good day. Ivard got laid off the Rail Road.

Tuesday, January 13, 1948

Lyle is 12 today. Ivard started on pressure system today. no water & I cleaned & scrubbed whole house made 2 cakes, Jello, & punch & Lyle had a birthday party after school. Ivard took Kids home. Stoker stayed all night. Ivard went missionarying.

Monday, January 12, 1948

Ivard went to work this morning & got home at 3:30 and we went over to Lee's and got a load of hay. Came home & ate & went to Basket ball game at Adrian, got beat. I was official scorer & had to sit at table. pump broke

Sunday, January 11, 1948

no church today, conference. I spent all day sorting old receipts & writeing letters to Grandpa Batt, Ma, Ruth, Bill and Berniece. Ivard got home at 7: AM & slept most of day. we ate & kids did dishes & bathed. I went to bed at midnight. sun & cold wind.

Saturday, January 10, 1948

We went to Adrian & got parts to fix oil barrells & at noon got a fire going. sure cold. Ivard went to water meeting & I made out my Avon Order & went to Wilder to mail it. Norton came over & stayed all night. Ivard cut all their hair. Went to work at 10:30.

Friday, January 9, 1948

I took Kids to school & went selling Avon stuff all day. got home at 5:30 & went to Adrian & got lost going down to Stokers after Lyle. ate & Ivard went missionary working with Mr. Carlson but no one was home so they came back. oil barrell tiped over.

Thursday, January 8, 1948

Ivard went to work this morning and it was a nice windy day so I washed & got most of them dry. We ate & Ivard & Kids went to practice basketball & I got books up & played Salitare.

Wednesday, January 7, 1948

We fooled around until 11:30 before I started school lunch then cooker wouldn't work & I was late. made corn chowder. Ivard worked on pressure system. got a letter from Dad & Ma & in it a $50. bond from Grandpa Batt, got 2 place setting of my silver. Went to Mutual & danced after.

Tuesday. January 6, 1948

took kids to school & went right on over to Stans. met Stan & Ivard went up to new place with him & I went over & Pd. Louise money they lent us & took her to Ontario. went back & got Ivard & we came home & he left for work at 2:15. I cleaned house fed kids & did dishes. got books up & wrote letters.

Monday, January 5, 1948

Kids went back to school today. I wrote Mother until 11: we went over to Sybles & I stayed while Ivard & Lee went to Parma, & Hauled our 3 cows over to Lees, he bought from us. rained. ate & Lyle, & Jerry went with us over & got Ken Olsen & went to Nyssa & played ball. Ivard got beat 5 points. got home at 11:30.

Sunday, January 4, 1948

Ivard got home at 6: A.M. & slept until 9:30. I bathed 3 little kids & got ready & we all went to sunday school. got home & ate & Ivard left for work at 2: I played Salatair while kids did dishes. Gail took Lees horses home & Lyle had to go up to Pains & Carlsons. did chores & went to bed. I got books up for "47." Ivard got home at 10:45. rained little.

Saturday, January 3, 1948

nice day. Ivard & kids burned weeds & plowed all day. Ivard stoped long enough to take me to Roswell after sugar & flour & to Lees a little while. We ate, did dishes & played 7 up with kids. Ivard went to work at 10:30.

Friday, January 2, 1948

nice & warm, all the snow melted. Ivard went to Boise & got home at 4: Kids milked & went with milk man over & got Lee's horses then went & got hay & fed cows then back for 2nd load. When Ivard came we went over & finished loading & Ivard & Gail brought it home. got 2 dz. eggs. went to bed at 8:30 after we ate. I scrubbed & [not legible] & took down Xmas tree.

Ivard left for Boise at 5: A.M. snowed & blizzard all afternoon. Ivard got home at 3: & we tried to go after hay but couldn't get up hill, to slick. We ate fried chicken jello & cake. big supper. played games awhile & went to bed at 8:30.
