We all went to sunday school. it was cold & stormy. Lyle went home with Melvin. We came home and fed the Kids then Ivard & I went up to Ray & Evelyns and spent the afternoon, we went over to Laurence & Aftons a min. then ate & went to church, rode back home with Ray & talked awhile then came home.

Berniece had a 8 lb 6 oz baby boy today. Ivard, Lyle & Gail went over to Lee's and hayed all day. I spent all day makeing diapers and finishing my dress. didn't get much work done. It rained all night.

Ivard went over to Lee's to hay & I did up work & sewed on my dress. Lyle and Gail went over to Lee's to haul hay at 1: & Jerry was home alone. Glen & Ad came & took me & 3 little Kids to Caldwell & got shoes & had icecream & went to Park awhile. Lyle & Gail went swimming tonight with Decons at Caldwell & Ivard went miss. & Jerry went over to show with Ivard.

took Ivard over to Lees to hay & never got back till 10: then Syble called & said they'd be over to do our hay for dinner because it was blowing too hard to haul. We ate & they went to cut our hay but it was too wet so Ivard & Kids did beets all afternoon. sure an awful wind all afternoon.

feed Kids & took Ivard over to Lee's to hay & Syble & I went to Parma & got feed & Pd bills. got home at noon & fixed lunch then Mrs. Wooley came & got me & we went & got Syble & Mrs. Stoker & went up to Garners to shower on Delorus came home & ate & Ivard & Lyle & Gail went to scout meeting & I got books up & crocheted.

made cottage cheese & did up work. Ivard did chores & tended water and at 10:30 he went over to help Lee hay. called Glen for bull had nap with Kids. got supper & me and Kids went to bed early & Ivard went out missionarying.

Ivard & I, Lyle & Gail went to sunday school got 5 qts icecream & groc. & brought Melvin home & we had Jerrys birthday dinner. Lee Syble & Kids came over all afternoon. Kay, Gene & Ray stayed home & the rest of us went to church. Little Kids couldn't go, no shoes.

to wet to hay till noon so they thinned beets & we ate dinner then I took Ivard, Lyle & Gail up to neighbors & they finished up his hay. We did chores & all of us but Lyle went to Adrian to the show, for Jerrys birthday. no cake. I hemmed 25 diapers.

Ivard & Lyle went up to neighbors and hayed all day. I did up work & got dinner & got ready & at 1: went over to Rhody's to my shower. I got a lot of nice, expensive presents. not too many came. I won prize. got home at 6: & we had a hard rain for about 1 hr. Ivard didn't go miss.

Ivard & Lyle went & hayed all day & Gail & Jerry did beets. I did up work and sewed on my new dress. got dinner & got ready & at 2: I went down to Bullens to a stork shower on Mrs. Studyte. won prize got a box of baby clothes from Berniece. came home & sewed & went to bed early. finished dress.

Kids did beets. We had dinner & I bathed & Kay, Gene, Ray & I went to Ontario to the doctor then they bought Jerry a birthday present. came home by Parma & got feed & groceries. Ivard didn't hay today, he did beets & watered. I've gained too much weight. went over to Farm Bureau meeting at high S.

Ivard went & raked hay all day and Kids did beets. I did up the work & cut me out 2 house dresses. this afternoon I went and did my relief society teaching alone. Syble is working. We ate and went to bed early. had letter from Berniece.

Monday, June 6, 1949

Ivard went up to rake for neighbor & Kids did beets. I scrubbed & cleaned house good & wrote to Mother. had a nap with Kids. this afternoon I went to Adrian and got dairy feed. got supper & Ivard went missionarying. I sat out side until he got home at 11:00.

Got up & ate & bathed & at 7:30 Ivard, Lyle, Gail & I went over to Max's & went to Weiser to conference. sure good but hot. Ezra T. Benson was up. we bought our lunch. after Ivard had a miss. meeting so Ivard & I rode home with Shorts, stopped & had a root beer float. stayed at Max's awhile, got home at dark.

Kids did beets all day and Ivard watered then they hauled the hay off the piece west of the house. I iorned all day. we ate & at 6:30 Ivard went over to Shorts & went with him to priesthood conference. I went to bed early. Ivard came at midnight. got letter from Louie.

got books up & dampened clothes. Ivard fixed flat tires then they did beets. after dinner I got ready & went over to Rhodys, it was supposed to be my shower but its not till next week. I visited all afternoon. Ivard went miss. but short couldn't go so we went over to Adrian to show & took Kids to see "Red Stallion in the Rockies."

did a 3 weeks washing & Jerry got dinner at 2:30 I took Kids over to Big Bend Park to closeing primary party. had hot dogs, punch, cookies, icecream Kids got presents. Took Stokers home & went to Adrian. got supper & cleaned up house & got clothes all in & put away. sure cold today. got letter from Berniece. they did beets.

did up the work & got dinner, had a nap with the Kids. Ivard & Kids thinned beets all day. I took Lyle & Gail up to Woolies to go to Nyssa to a stake Priesthood banquet. They got home at 11:30 & brought 3 boxes of lunch.

did up work & sent some payments in mail. We went up & saw Mrs. Carlson a few min. It was stormy but they thinned beets all day. I got ready & at noon Mrs. Stoker came & got me & we went to Weiser to Stake relief society party. got home at 6:30 & got supper. We went to bed early.

ate breakfast & Kids thinned beets & Ivard & I went over to garage in Rhodens car and got our car. I crocheted & Ivard went out & did beets. got dinner & had nap with Gene & Ray. Fat & Lill, Add & their mother & Doris came awhile. got books up & wrote to Ruth C. and Donna. We went over to Sybles awhile after Kids were to bed. Lyle, Gail & Jerry slept up in sagebrush & got rained on.

rained all night & most of day. couldn't go to church cause car is still over to garage they did beets awhile. We cleaned house good & ate dinner then Ivard & I had a nap with little Kids. Ivard Ray & Gene bathed. We played penochle awhile then did chores & had a sandwich and went to bed.

I picked the strawberries & got dinner & baked bread. Ivard & Jerry & Kay watered and pilled hay. I crocheted all afternon, I didn't feel too good. Kids got home from their scout trip at 5: & we planted 100 tomatoes, did chores & ate and went to bed. It was cloudy & colder tonight.

did up work & got aspargus ready to bottle & took car to garage & Mrs. Hester brought me home, got dinner. Ivard & Kids thinned our beets until noon then Lee came and took Lyle & Gail over to Adrian to meet scouts to go on all night trip. bottled 8 qts aspargus. Ivard disked the garden & planted corn, beans & potatoes. went to bed at 9:30.

did up work & after dinner I went over to the garage to see about getting car fixed tomorrow then over to Sybles & we went around the fences & got aspargus. I got home at 7: awful wind, broke our prune tree. Ivard watered & him & Kids thinned beet. bushings gone out of both front wheels.

did up work & had a bath & Fat & Alv & Pearl came back just as I was takeing car to garage to be fixed, Rhody picked me up & I had dinner at her place saw Mrs. Bair awhile. got home at 6: & Ivard had been gone with Alv. & Fat to Beer joint all afternoon & was about drunk. They came right after I did & left for home. Fat got me pitcher, glasses $6. bacon & steak. Max & Rhody came & got their tractor. we went & got Kids from school meeting, they rode over with Max. got new water pump in car & tonight the front wheel wrecked. Kids cut hay by house.

Ivard & I went to Parma & Pd. lights & got groceries & over to Lyman Renolds & got a mower he gave us. got it in his truck then took truck home. fixed lunch & went up to school picnic. had a good dinner. I went to relief society from school with Mrs. Stoker. Ivard & Kids packed me up after on way up to finish Max's beets. Fat, Alv. & Pearl came hunting us got home at 7: & ate, beer too, then they went to Caldwell to sleep.

Ivard & Kids left to do beets at Max's at 7: A.M wrote mother, Bill, Louie, Stella, F.H.A. office & Keith Stahle. did up work and had a nap with Kids. had supper ready when the guys got home. finished the relief society pillow slips today.

Ivard & I, Gail, Jerry & Gene went to sunday school. Jerry went down to Bullens to stay all night. We came home & ate then Lee came & we talked awhile then Lyman Renolds came & brought Syble & we visited awhile did chores & had icecream then Ivard & I went over to Laurences. rode to Nyssa to take Mrs. Bair home. got home at 12.

did 2 weeks washing, took every thing out of back porch & scrubbed and cleaned, defrosted icebox, cleaned 2 chickens, got clothes put away & made beds. we ate & Ivard went missionarying with Mr. Short & I mate 8 cups of flour into noodles for tomorrow.

We all went to sunday school to mother day programe. got a book of poems. came home & ate & Kids gave me 8 glasses, 2 bowls, 2 pictures Jerry made & 2 plastic ornaments Lyle & Gail made. Lee & Frank came awhile & Lyle & Gail went with them till dark. I walked around farm with Ivard to check water.

Cleaned my bed room & front room then moped & cleaned dineing room & kitchen. Ivard & Gail watered the hill side. Lyle went over to Tam's all day & Jerry to Adrian selling cards. he walked clear home. Ivard cut all their hair & everyone bathed but me & Jerry.

Cleaned house and finished reading the Bible. Lyle & Gail stayed home to help Ivard water grain on hill. Baked bread. at noon I went over to Sybles & had a bath then I took her & Lee to Ontario with me. I went to doctor. I lost 4 1/2 lbs. got home at 5: Cold again today.

Ivard watered till church time it was primary conference. Jerry, Kay & Gene had a part. It didn't last long. we were home by 9:30 & to bed.

we got up & ate & left for Boise at 7:30. Me, Ivard, Bill, Jean, Leslie & Mother & Dad. Dad & mother had to be to a school meeting & while they were we went throu the capitol & looking the town over. Met Dad at noon & had a good dinner & a room all to ourselves. drove around town & got home at 6: & got supper & did chores. at 9:30 Bill put on a show with his moves of the families.

We ate & dad & mother left for oise to a convention at 8: Jean & I did up the work & Ivard & Bill took out two trees & looked the farm over. We had lunch & drove over to Adrian & Roswell & showed Bill some of places. Jean & I washed our hair & she fixed mine. We were going to Keith Stokers reception but were too late.

finished my pillow slip lace & sewed it on for Keith Stokers shower. did up work. got dinner & at 1:15 went over and got Syble and we went to relief society, got home at 5: & got supper and at 7:30 we went & got Lee & Syble & went over to Mr. Carlson's farewell. had nice programe & dance got home at 12:30. Ivard furrowed out bottom beets.

Ivard started to water the grain & clover this morning. wrote mother. at noon we took the heifer Laurence gave us up to Mr. Carlson's sale, got $58. then Ivard spent 25. of it on an old manure spreader, went up to school & voted on a school tax bill. went to bed early.

I read Bible & crocheted and got supper. crocheted after supper & finished my pillow slip lace.

took Kids to school and went down to Vern Hughs & borrowed his planter & got some lilac bushes & came home & planted 16 of them. crocheted this afternoon. got supper and we took Lyle & Gail & neighbor kid to mutual. Ivard had to teach a scout class & I had to take a Bee Hive class cause teachers didn't show.

made salad & 12 sandwiches for relief society then made 3 lemon pies. at 11: I went over to relief society work day at the school house. There was only 7 of us & we really did eat. I brought home as much as I took. stoped to Sybles & talked awhile on the way home. read the Bible & crocheted tonight.

Martha came over before sunday school & gave me the book to tell the story to Kindergarten class. had car trouble over by Adrian & I went on with Mrs. Hemingway. Lee came over this afternoon We ate dinner & kids did dishes. we went to church with Carlsons.

Ivard went over to Glen's until noon & helped poor cement & got hair cut. I did my washing, baked bread, made cake, & cooked a roast & made noodle soup for supper. made beds & cleaned my bed room. Kids cleaned the rest of the house & we ate & got kids bathed. nice hot day.

Ivard is 34 today. I did up work & made bread. I made a birthday cake. went out with Ivard to work on fence awhile. We had fried chicken & new aspargus, potatoes & gravy jello & cake for Ivards birthday. I went out to do chores with Ivard & kids did dishes.

Ivard finished planting beets today Keith Wooley came & planted them cold & rainy. I picked over beans, got dinner made bread & 2 cakes. Kids helped do up work. got some potatoes planted in garden. Ivard cut all the kids hair.

We went over to Sybles awhile then we went to Nyssa & got the motor to the milker fixed. I finished crocheting relief society pillow slips while we waited. relief society teachers came when we got back. nice warm day. read the Bible for awhile & got supper. set a hen.

I went up & got Jerry from school as soon as he got there & we went to Caldwell to opening of new Sears store. I got an gardenia, ruler & funny books. Ivard had to get oil for tractor. got Jerry new shoes. came home & Ivard leveled & me & Kids went over to Sybles awhile, got me new shoes. Went up to school to wienie roast.

Ivard got two acre beet ground ready to plant then couldn't get planter rained all afternoon. I cleaned whole house good & washed my hair & baked bread. bathed me & all the Kids. at 8: we went over to Maxe's & went to Nyssa to dance then came back to Maxs birthday party Laurence & A. & Ray & E. it was Ray anniv. got home at 2:30.

Lyle didn't feel good so he stayed home. Ivard corrigated grain today I took feed to Adrian to be ground then went on over to Nyssa & got beet seed & fertilizer brought it home then went back to Adrian & got feed. Patched awhile. went to bed early.

Ivard finished planting his grain at noon 19 acres, we took horses up to Woolies first then went over & borrowed Lee's. this after noon we took Lees horse home & let him use one of ours. got home at 4:30 & got supper. Ivard went up to go miss but Mr. Carlson got home too late.

I made chilli & took up to school then went on over to Ad's & we went with Rhody over to Hartleys to relief society. got home at 5:00 & got supper. We all went to sunday school but Jerry & Kay. Gail graduated from Primary & gave a talk in sacrement meeting. I bore my testimony. Jimmy came home with us. Lyle, Gail, Kay & Jimmy went to meeting with us. It was relief society meeting. I closed with prayer. Gail was made a deacon. I had to give lesson.

Ivard took kids to school & went to see if he could work today. I mixed bread & got books up & wrote mother. Ivard came at noon & went to Wilder & got spark plugs in car. I made bread buns & noodles. We ate when Kids came then we all went over to get Nancy & Norton & went to Adrian to championship game between Owyhee & Nyssa. Nyssa won. Ivard refereed & they were very unhappy with refrees.

Lyle had a stiff neck so he stayed home today. about 10:30 Ivard & I went over to Ad's. Glen & Ivard were going to take cow to sale but Glen had taken Doris to hospital so I stayed with Ad all day & Ivard went down to Roys & worked on the car all day. Doris's baby was born dead, deformed head. I went to bed early. Mr. Carlson came awhile.

Feed Kids & got them to bed by candle then Lyle borrowed some tape & we cut wire & fixed it. just got light on when Ivard came at 9: he'd been messing with guys from work.

Ivard rode to work with one of the guys at work. I wrote a letter & got diary up. Kay's still in bed but feels a lot better. Kids did up the work and walked over to Lee's & he took them to Adrian to show but their wasn't a matinee, they got home at 5: we ate & put Kay, Gene & Ray to bed & Ivard took us to first show. Bob Hope in Paleface, sure good. got home at 10:15. I read bible all afternoon.

Kay was home from school sick & Ray was still sick. I didn't feel good either. I read the Bible about all day. I got supper & when Ivard came at 5:30 we ate. Gail was 12 years old today. he got presents but we didn't have a cake. have his dinner sunday. I went to bed early & Ivard played Monoply with Kids.

Ray was sick in bed today. he had quite a fever. I made a big kettle of potatoe soup for school lunch, the teacher came & got it at noon. baked bread. Read the bible all afternoon. Ivard got a ride with one of the guys he works with today. We went to bed early. snowed.

Ivard left at 7:30 to walk to work. Made Kids hot cakes & spent all morning getting up my books. made a shirt but couldn't do any work, had 10 Kids playing in house all day. We ate & I got Kids to bed early, run out of oil. Ivard got home at 9:45. he'd been playing poker at resturant & won $6. had to thaw out frozen gas line too.

Lyle is 13 today. I spent all day scrubbing and cleaning up the dirty house, didn't even have enough stuff to make Lyle a cake. We gave him a scout ring. After chores & dishes & little Kids were to bed we played Monoply. got letter from Berniece.

Monday, January 3, 1949

Ivard went to work & Kids went back to school. Cold wind. got books & diary up & wrote to Louie, Mother, Ruth, Bill & Berniece. took down Xmas tree. Cleaned the house good all but my bed room. got supper & we went over to Kens & went to Nyssa to ball game. Adrian beat us one point. went up to Kens mothers after & had chilli. got home at 1: AM.

Sunday, January 2, 1949

We all went to Sunday school & fast meeting but Gail. We went after him at 4:30 but they weren't home, he got home at dark, been over to Lawrences. Jimmy was down all day. Ivard helped get dinner we did chores & listened to radio. Went to bed early, had to go up to Shafers & get horses. Cold wind all day.

Saturday, January 1, 1949

Ivard had to work, he left before I was up. I sewed all day. when Ivard came early we had our New Years dinner & Kids did the dishes while Ivard did chores. Gail went over to Nortons all night. We played games with Kids. Ivard said he was sorry for last night. Cold.
