Tuesday, May 31, 1949

did up work & sent some payments in mail. We went up & saw Mrs. Carlson a few min. It was stormy but they thinned beets all day. I got ready & at noon Mrs. Stoker came & got me & we went to Weiser to Stake relief society party. got home at 6:30 & got supper. We went to bed early.

Monday, May 30, 1949

ate breakfast & Kids thinned beets & Ivard & I went over to garage in Rhodens car and got our car. I crocheted & Ivard went out & did beets. got dinner & had nap with Gene & Ray. Fat & Lill, Add & their mother & Doris came awhile. got books up & wrote to Ruth C. and Donna. We went over to Sybles awhile after Kids were to bed. Lyle, Gail & Jerry slept up in sagebrush & got rained on.

Sunday, May 29, 1949

rained all night & most of day. couldn't go to church cause car is still over to garage they did beets awhile. We cleaned house good & ate dinner then Ivard & I had a nap with little Kids. Ivard Ray & Gene bathed. We played penochle awhile then did chores & had a sandwich and went to bed.

Saturday, May 28, 1949

I picked the strawberries & got dinner & baked bread. Ivard & Jerry & Kay watered and pilled hay. I crocheted all afternon, I didn't feel too good. Kids got home from their scout trip at 5: & we planted 100 tomatoes, did chores & ate and went to bed. It was cloudy & colder tonight.

Friday, May 27, 1949

did up work & got aspargus ready to bottle & took car to garage & Mrs. Hester brought me home, got dinner. Ivard & Kids thinned our beets until noon then Lee came and took Lyle & Gail over to Adrian to meet scouts to go on all night trip. bottled 8 qts aspargus. Ivard disked the garden & planted corn, beans & potatoes. went to bed at 9:30.

Thursday, May 26, 1949

did up work & after dinner I went over to the garage to see about getting car fixed tomorrow then over to Sybles & we went around the fences & got aspargus. I got home at 7: awful wind, broke our prune tree. Ivard watered & him & Kids thinned beet. bushings gone out of both front wheels.

Wednesday, May 25, 1949

did up work & had a bath & Fat & Alv & Pearl came back just as I was takeing car to garage to be fixed, Rhody picked me up & I had dinner at her place saw Mrs. Bair awhile. got home at 6: & Ivard had been gone with Alv. & Fat to Beer joint all afternoon & was about drunk. They came right after I did & left for home. Fat got me pitcher, glasses $6. bacon & steak. Max & Rhody came & got their tractor. we went & got Kids from school meeting, they rode over with Max. got new water pump in car & tonight the front wheel wrecked. Kids cut hay by house.

Tuesday, May 24, 1949

Ivard & I went to Parma & Pd. lights & got groceries & over to Lyman Renolds & got a mower he gave us. got it in his truck then took truck home. fixed lunch & went up to school picnic. had a good dinner. I went to relief society from school with Mrs. Stoker. Ivard & Kids packed me up after on way up to finish Max's beets. Fat, Alv. & Pearl came hunting us got home at 7: & ate, beer too, then they went to Caldwell to sleep.

Monday, May 23, 1949

Ivard & Kids left to do beets at Max's at 7: A.M wrote mother, Bill, Louie, Stella, F.H.A. office & Keith Stahle. did up work and had a nap with Kids. had supper ready when the guys got home. finished the relief society pillow slips today.

Sunday, May 22, 1949

Ivard & I, Gail, Jerry & Gene went to sunday school. Jerry went down to Bullens to stay all night. We came home & ate then Lee came & we talked awhile then Lyman Renolds came & brought Syble & we visited awhile did chores & had icecream then Ivard & I went over to Laurences. rode to Nyssa to take Mrs. Bair home. got home at 12.

Ivard & Kids went over to Max's & did beets, I baked bread & scrubbed & cleaned the house good. Ivard got home at 6:30 & did chores and we ate and went to Adrian & took all the Kids to the show. got home at midnight.

Friday, May 20, 1949

Kids went to school, it was too wet to do beets, it rained all night. We took them to school and went over to Glens & Ivard went to Nyssa with him. Glen cut Ivards hair and we had dinner. got home at 3: & I washed Ivards hair & got supper. got letter from Mother. Ivard went to Adrian missionarying. rained on & off all day.

Ivard to thru beets at Woolies at noon. Max & Rhody came over. We ate then I went over to Maxs with Ivard to thin beets. got rained out at 5:30 & we came home. did chores & ate then we went over to Lee's & cut his & Nortons hair. got letter from Donna & Ruth C.

Wednesday, May 18, 1949

ate & Ivard & Kids went to thin beets. I was stormy. I did up work & got my books up. I worked on relief society pillow slips all day. We ate & they did chores then Ivard, Lyle & Gail went to a scout weinne roast over by Vale. They got home at midnight. I sewed until they came.

Ivard & Lyle & Gail ate & went up to Woolies at 7: to thin beets. I did up work & baked bread & got dinner. Ivard took little Kids up with him while I went to relief society. Picked him up on way home & he went out soliciting for scouts Ivard did chores & I got supper & went after Kids & we ate & I went with Ivard to finish his scout work, had to take it to a guy above Adrian. got home at 10:

cool this morning. did up work and got books up & wrote mother. we went over & got Lee and went to Parma then had lunch there came home & took Vern Hughs trailer home & stoped to Carlsons & got garbage then over to Woolies & I visited while Ivard was seeing about doing beets. ate supper & Ivard went missionaryng at Adrian.

ate & cleaned up and we all went to sunday school. Lyle went home with Petersons. we ate & read paper & Kids did dishes & Gail made a cake. Evelyn & Ray came then Lawrence & Afton & Lee & Syble came a few min. we ate cake & did chores & all went to sacrement meeting. Lyle opened with prayer & him & Gail sang 2 numbers with boys chorus.

got up & ate & Ivard & I and Lyle & Gail took Gails calf (4H) over to Nyssa to Jersey show. left at 8: A.M & got home at 6: P.M. sure hot, I got sun burned. Martha bought our dinner. Gail didn't win any thing. ate & did chores Lee came awhile to get hair cut but Ivard was too tired

did up my work and patched most of the day. Kids went to Adrian to track meet. Gail won 2nd & Lyle a 1st ribbon. when Kids came home we went down to Vern Hughs and borrowed his trailer. ate & Ivard went to Adrian to scout meeting & lunch. It rained hard & lights went out so I went to bed. I was sick all night.

did up my work and did my iorning. Syble called up & I went over & took her and Smiths over to Deb Garners and we got some potatoes. I got 2 sacks. got home at 7:30 and got supper. Ivard watered all day. sure hot. Jerry home sick.

did up work & wrote letters & dampened clothes. Lyle & Gail stayed home & they started thinning beets. I spent all day patching overalls. had fried chicken for supper. went to bed early. Ivard watered all day.

Tuesday, May 10, 1949

made my chicken & noodles & went up & got Mrs. Carlsons stuff & Sybles then we went down & got Mrs. Stoker. It was 1: time we got over there & served lunch at relief society. got home at 5:30. sure hot today. Gail stayed home & helped Ivard & Lyle worked half day for Boor.

Monday, May 9, 1949

did 2 weeks washing, took every thing out of back porch & scrubbed and cleaned, defrosted icebox, cleaned 2 chickens, got clothes put away & made beds. we ate & Ivard went missionarying with Mr. Short & I mate 8 cups of flour into noodles for tomorrow.

Sunday, May 8, 1949

We all went to sunday school to mother day programe. got a book of poems. came home & ate & Kids gave me 8 glasses, 2 bowls, 2 pictures Jerry made & 2 plastic ornaments Lyle & Gail made. Lee & Frank came awhile & Lyle & Gail went with them till dark. I walked around farm with Ivard to check water.

Saturday, May 7, 1949

Cleaned my bed room & front room then moped & cleaned dineing room & kitchen. Ivard & Gail watered the hill side. Lyle went over to Tam's all day & Jerry to Adrian selling cards. he walked clear home. Ivard cut all their hair & everyone bathed but me & Jerry.

Wednesday, May 4, 1949

Cleaned house and finished reading the Bible. Lyle & Gail stayed home to help Ivard water grain on hill. Baked bread. at noon I went over to Sybles & had a bath then I took her & Lee to Ontario with me. I went to doctor. I lost 4 1/2 lbs. got home at 5: Cold again today.

Tuesday, May 3, 1949

Ivard watered until noon & I did up my work then we ate & went up & got Mrs. Carlson and over & got Syble and we went to relief society & Ivard & Lee dehorned calves. got home at 5: and Lyle had supper ready. I rode down to change water with Ivard & crocheted. We took Lyle & Gail to scout meeting & went up to Max's till they were out at 10:30. Cold all day.

Monday, May 2, 1949

Cold & hard wind. Ivard watered all day. I made bread & got books up & wrote Mother & Berniece. & got dinner. Vet came and tested Gails calf. I read the Bible all afternoon. We ate supper & got Kids to bed and Ivard & I read for an hr.

Sunday, May 1, 1949

rained all night. Ivard watered till time to go to sunday school, we all went but Gail. Lyle went to Ballentines. had dinner. Gail made cake while we were to sunday school & fast meeting. Ivard watered till church time it was primary conference. Jerry, Kay & Gene had a part. It didn't last long. we were home by 9:30 & to bed.
