frost hanging from everything this morning. I spent all day getting up books & writeing to Mother, Berniece, & Louie. got a letter from Louie. Ivards chill blane has infection in, sure bothers him. had to work again this week, sure glad. lights were out 2 hrs. Ward teacher came just as they came on so we never ate until after 9:

Sunday, January 30, 1949

We all went to sunday school. Gail walked home from Stokers this morning. I had to guide old chiv home while Ivard towed it from Ken's. Melvin came home with us. We ate. Cliff Wright & his wife came awhile. dried clothes. snowed this morning & thawed this afternoon. fog tonight. Lyle & Melvin walked down to Stokers & went to church. We played menoply with Jerry & Gail.

Saturday, January 29, 1949

did 3 weeks wash. not very good day. dried a lot over the stove. just turned lights on & had to pull switch cause the wire in to basement burnt in half & was smoking. good thing we were here & cought it or house would have burned. Feed Kids & got them to bed by candle then Lyle borrowed some tape & we cut wire & fixed it. just got light on when Ivard came at 9: he'd been messing with guys from work.

Friday, January 28, 1949

made noodle soup & bread, no cake for Genes birthday. Roy & Betty came awhile. We went relief society teaching & had trouble all the way. had to push it every where we went then the lights went out on us. got too hot got home at 10:30. sure cold couldn't go to Ad's to do shirts, she called & said she had to do her teaching. Gail went to Stokers.

Thursday, January 27, 1949

Kids rode to school with Ivard & Roy. I did up the work and read the Bible all day. We ate when Ivard came & he did chores & we went over & got Syble & started out relief society teaching but ran out of gas & made it too late. We went to Adrian & got some. Went to bed early.

Wednesday, January 26, 1949

did up the work & finished up my 14 shirts. picked over beans all afternoon. got supper. Lyle walked over to Hemingways & went to Mutual. We went to bed early. snowed a little. Kay went to school today

Tuesday, January 25, 1949

did up the work. Kept Kay home again today. made my last shirt & finished up the other & sewed buttons on 8 of them. After we ate we went over to Sybles in our new car & got some eggs. didn't stay long.

Monday, January 24, 1949

Kept Kay home with sore mouth. wrote mother. did up work & finished 2 shirts, cut out 2 more & got one of them made. We ate & Gail & Jerry went with us to ball game. We rode with Ken, awful fog. We got our new car for $100. & Ivard drove it home. we rode with Ken. stoped in there & got warm on way home.

Sunday, January 23, 1949

Ivard, Lyle & Gail & I went to sunday school. ran out of gas on way home over by Ricks & she took Ivard after some. stoped to Lee's and got warm. went home & ate then took Gail over to Nortons & Lee & Syble took us over the other side of Nyssa to see about a car but I guess we were too late to get it. stoped to Howard Bairs a min. got home at 6: & ate & did chores & went to bed. Gail & Norton drove car up to Smiths.

Saturday, January 22, 1949

Ivard rode to work with one of the guys at work. I wrote a letter & got diary up. Kay's still in bed but feels a lot better. Kids did up the work and walked over to Lee's & he took them to Adrian to show but their wasn't a matinee, they got home at 5: we ate & put Kay, Gene & Ray to bed & Ivard took us to first show. Bob Hope in Paleface, sure good. got home at 10:15. I read bible all afternoon.

Friday, January 21, 1949

Kay was home from school sick & Ray was still sick. I didn't feel good either. I read the Bible about all day. I got supper & when Ivard came at 5:30 we ate. Gail was 12 years old today. he got presents but we didn't have a cake. have his dinner sunday. I went to bed early & Ivard played Monoply with Kids.

Thursday, January 20, 1949

Ray was sick in bed today. he had quite a fever. I made a big kettle of potatoe soup for school lunch, the teacher came & got it at noon. baked bread. Read the bible all afternoon. Ivard got a ride with one of the guys he works with today. We went to bed early. snowed.

Wednesday, January 19, 1949

After Ivard & Kids went I bathed Gene and Ray and did up the work. I started reading the Bible again today. I didn't feel to hot. Lyle walked over and went to scout meeting with Heminway. We ate and went to bed early.

Tuesday, January 18, 1949

I did up the work and sewed two shirts all but putting on the collars. When Ivard came we ate & Lyle left with us to go to Nyssa to play ball we got as far as Wade school & the car froze up so we went around to Lee's & played Touring & ate pop corn. got some eggs. got home at 11:30. Gene was a lot better today.

Monday, January 17, 1949

Ivard went to work early. I wrote letters & got books up all day. guy came & fixed stove. had letter from Louie. Ivard didn't come home till after the ball game. They played at 7:30 & got beat. He got home about 11: Kept Gene in bed today. He feels a lot better.

Sunday, January 16, 1949

Lyle, Gail & Jerry walked over to Lee's & went to sunday school. Lee & Syble brought them home. Lyle went to Ballentines & Jimmy & Norton came here. Ivard killed two roosters & cleaned them & washed milker & I made dressing & a cake & got supper. Kids did dishes. We went to bed early. no oil, got barrell proped up. Gene woke up sick

Saturday, January 15, 1949

Ivard left at 7:30 to walk to work. Made Kids hot cakes & spent all morning getting up my books. made a shirt but couldn't do any work, had 10 Kids playing in house all day. We ate & I got Kids to bed early, run out of oil. Ivard got home at 9:45. he'd been playing poker at resturant & won $6. had to thaw out frozen gas line too.

did up work & cut out 3 shirts then we ate & Lee came & took us to Parma to get groceries. snowed on us, sure was cold. got supper & Kids did chores. we ate when Ivard came at 7:30. some guy brought him home. left car at garage. Played Penochle.

Thursday, January 13, 1949

Lyle is 13 today. I spent all day scrubbing and cleaning up the dirty house, didn't even have enough stuff to make Lyle a cake. We gave him a scout ring. After chores & dishes & little Kids were to bed we played Monoply. got letter from Berniece.

Wednesday, January 12, 1949

Kept Jerry home with Kids & I went with Ivard to work, we stoped & got Doris & Eddie & went to Ad's. We ate dinner then Ad took us to Ontario to doctor. We got home at 5: & went down to Brows with Don's to change baby things then we went down & saw Lola Olsen (sick) car froze up comeing home. Ate & went to bed.

Tuesday, January 11, 1949

I did up the workd and laid around all day. didn't feel very good. When Ivard came I got out of bed & rode over to Parma after Gail's shoes at shoe maker. Awful cold. stoped at Sybles & ate supper & she sent a kettle of soup home for the Kids. drain froze up & Ivard broke pipe fixing it.

Monday, January 10, 1949

Wrote Mother, Ruth & Louie. 14 below when Ivard milked. he couldn't get car started after a couple of hrs. the horse came home but him or Gail never. I did up work & did my iorning. Ivard called at midnight & said he was staying at Ken Olsens all night, couldn't get car out of garage until tomorrow. They got beat by Wilsons.

no church it was conference. made chilli & got clothes dried & put away. Ivard & Kids went to Parma after Gails shoes but couldn't get them. we ate & kids bathed & we went to bed early. sure cold wind today.

Saturday, January 8, 1949

changed beds & gathered up clothes & did a 3 weeks wash, had cold wind. did up work & had supper ready when Ivard got home. Gail over to Norton's all day. We got Kids to bed & went over to Lee's & played touring & Penochle & ate pop corn. got home at midnight.

Friday, January 7, 1949

did up work & made a shirt. had a bath & fed Kids. Gail came home at noon to tend kids & Lee & Syble came & took me down to Doris's to her shower. Mrs. Jones brought us home at dark. We ate & Ivard went out with Mr. Carlson miss. got home about 11: sure cold.

Thursday, January 6, 1949

did up work and made shirts all day. made dressing & cooked ducks & we ate when Ivard came from work. He did chores & Mr. Carlson came & they went out missionary. I listened to radio until he got home at 11:10.

Wednesday, January 5, 1949

Did up work and sewed shirts all day. When Ivard came from work we went over to Sybles & got some eggs & she gave us 3 chickens and 2 ducks. Came home and ate & Ivard did chores and we went to bed after he cleaned ducks.

Tuesday, January 4, 1949

Ivard went to work and I did up my work then I made a baby dress & embroderied on two of them and made a shirt. Ivard was supposed to go missionarying but Mr. Carlson didn't come. We went to bed early.

Monday, January 3, 1949

Ivard went to work & Kids went back to school. Cold wind. got books & diary up & wrote to Louie, Mother, Ruth, Bill & Berniece. took down Xmas tree. Cleaned the house good all but my bed room. got supper & we went over to Kens & went to Nyssa to ball game. Adrian beat us one point. went up to Kens mothers after & had chilli. got home at 1: AM.

Sunday, January 2, 1949

We all went to Sunday school & fast meeting but Gail. We went after him at 4:30 but they weren't home, he got home at dark, been over to Lawrences. Jimmy was down all day. Ivard helped get dinner we did chores & listened to radio. Went to bed early, had to go up to Shafers & get horses. Cold wind all day.

Saturday, January 1, 1949

Ivard had to work, he left before I was up. I sewed all day. when Ivard came early we had our New Years dinner & Kids did the dishes while Ivard did chores. Gail went over to Nortons all night. We played games with Kids. Ivard said he was sorry for last night. Cold.
