Saturday, May 31, 1958

Jerry made waffles for breakfast. Ivard got up early & went & cultivated corn but got rained out & came back to bed. We ate & I washed a batch of clothes & Ivard cut Jerry, Dean & Dales hair & I got books up & Ivard & I went to town & took 2 of my pigs I took Jerry & Gene down to do beets first but it was too wet. We bought 3 pig troughs & Gene a mit for $5. came home & ate & went to Adrian & got feed & when Gene got chores done Ivard took him over to Ballentynes to go to Mutual party, show in Ontario, Then Ivard & Kay went to ball practice I iorned until Midnight, finally got it done, 115 pieces in 2 days. Ivard & Kay came home & watched T.V. until it went off the air, Then Ivard bathed & we went to bed.

Gene got home at 2: A.M.

Friday, May 30, 1958

Ivard milked & Jerry & Gene went down & hoed beet for Tom Ray did up the work & I made potatoe salad then I iorned all morning. Jerry came up at 1: & got dinner & we ate & they went back to hoe & I had a nap then iorned all afternoon, did 61 pieces today. washed a batch of clothes. Ivard spent all morning fixing the tractor Kay broke then Kay finished cutting hay out by house & Ivard went down & started cultivating corn. Ivard, Jackie & I took Kay over to ball practice. got home at dark & had sandwich & icecream & went to bed.

Jerry went ward teaching.

Thursday, May 29, 1958

We got up late & ate and I took Jerry to Caldwell to unemployment office at 9:10, he had an appointment. They sent him ov er to Idaho Sand & Gravel by Nampa to be interviewed. It sounded favorable. They will let him know next Thursday. We got groc. in Caldwell & came home & I cooked a Stake & got dinner & we ate at 3: Ivard got mower & knives ready. Ivard left for work at 3:15. I dampened clothes & after Gene got through chores him & Kay went over to church & played ball.

We had icecream & got the Kids to bed & watched T.V until it went off the air. Ivard came home from work & ate his icecreame & went to bed before our show was over.

Kay started to cut hay this after noon.

Wednesday, May 28, 1958

We got up at 9: & Mrs. Whitney fixed us breakfast & Ivard went with Kids up to Practice a little & I watched T.V. Kids came to Whitneys to guanseth hut & played games until noon then they went up town & ate & Mrs Whitney fixed us lunch & I helped her clean up. They even had wall to wall carpet in bathroom & a lady to help with work. at 1: we went over to high school to warm up. The game started at 2: we won 11 to 0. After we game we left for home up through Weston & the Blue Mountains. We got to Le Grande at 6: & gased up & Bob took Stanley to hospital & ex-rayed his ankle, it was bothering him so. It was just sprained. We ate at the Royal & bought some things at drug store. We left for home about 8: We stoped at Baker while the Kids called some girls then we stoped at Huntington & had a coke. We got to Adrian at 1: A.M. & time we took Pete & Salvador home & unloaded at high school it was 1:30 when we got home.

sent mothers letter I wrote sunday

Ivard did chores & cultivated corn until he broke tractor. I got up early & did the iorning to go & we ate & at 9:30 Jerry & I took the Kids & went over to Sybles & got Ivards 2 new suits of underwear she bought for me & Gene stayed & went to school with Earl. we went over to Petersons & got Jerrys sunday school report then droped Kids off at school, Dale went with them. It was last day & picnic. came home & Ivard & I bathed & packed our suit case & at noon we went over to High School & got 5 players Kay, Pete, Stanley Mills, Fred Sayre & Salvador & went down to Picnic & got some icecream then we left for Athena to base ball play off. Three cars of us. Sayre & June & Glen & 3 Kids & Pat & Berdell & 4 Kids. stoped at Le Grande & got gas & at Pendleton & ate supper then went on out to Athena, 20 miles. We went to Coach Larsens & he took us all around to the places we were to stay. Ivard & I stayed at Jerry Whitney's a Ritzy big place, well to do. The guys & Kids went to practice & June, Bardell & I went up town & had a Coke & looked at Berdells place, lumber offices, most of the guys went to class night & June, Ivard & I went to Larsens & played Penochle until they got home. & then we sat around & talked until midnight, then went over and went to bed.

Monday, May 26, 1958

Kay went to work at dam at 6: I worked on puzzle until noon then mailed it, all I could get was 1999. I washed 3 batches of clothes & got dinner about 2: Ivard & Gene did ditches & watered & worked on tractor.

Ivard left for work at 3: for 4: I washed my hair.

Jerry made a flower bed & planted the cala lillies, gladiolas & panseys.

It sure was hot today.

I dampened a few clothes. got my books up.

We all went to bed early, so tired. Kay got home just before Ivard.

Sunday, May 25, 1958

so hot.

Gene got up and milked then Ivard & I, Jerry, Gene & Dean went to Nyssa to Conference at 9: so we got a good seat. Ray tended Dale & Jackie & Kay stayed in bed until noon then got up & went over to Petes in Pick up & went to Boise to see Carroll kid in hospital It was 10: P.M when he came home.

after morning conference we went & had a milk shake then Ivard went to a special meeting for soft ball until 1:30 & we came home in case Ivard might have to go to work We fixed dinner & Gail & Lynda came & ate with us. They went home about 5: We went down & got Toms sour milk then took his cans back.

They did chores & watched T.V & I wrote to Mother. Mr. Ward came to see about going to ball game up country. Ivard didn't work again.

Saturday, May 24, 1958

Kay went to work at 6:30 to dam.

Ivard got home real early & came to bed. I got up & dressed Jackie & washed some clothes. Ivard got up & him & Gene watered. Ray scrubbed & cleaned up.

At 11: Jerry, Gene & I went to Parma then to Caldwell & got the milk check & got groc. Jerry bought us a hamberger & orange at A. & W. then we stoped at Reed & Bell & had french fries & root beer. got home at 2:30 & Jerry got supper while we went to Adrian & got feed & went to Bobs to get a T.V. tube but he didn't have one so we went to Wilder they didn't either so we dashed to Caldwell, got home at 5:30 & ate. Went down to Toms & got his sour milk then took Jerry over to Duaines to go to sunday school party & to make lunches for conference.

Kay came home late, he'd been swimming. We watched T.V. & went to bed early Ivard didn't work today. awful hot

Friday, May 23, 1958

Kay got up at 6: A.M. & drove over to Pete's in Pick-up & went p to dam to work with Puch. Ivard didn't come home from work this morning, doubled over & got home at 5:, 16 hrs. streight.

High school is out, today was their picnic. Gene didn't have to go today but Ray & Dean had to.

I worked on my puzzle all day & about went nuts, can't get more than 1999 no matter how I try.

Jerry got supper & we ate when Ivard got home and he went to bed he had to be to work again at 11:30. I worked on puzzle some more & watched T.V. Kay got home about dark, dead tired. shoveled gravel all day. He bathed, wrote a letter, ate & went to bed.

Ivard went back to work on Rail R.

I washed a batch of clothes & put 2 batches of clothes away we did yesterday, socks.

Kay didn't have to go to school today. We all went to town at 9:. We got a motor tune-up & new plugs & points at Dobbs in Nampa & Ivard got his medecine refilled then we went to Caldwell & had greese job & oil change & a new headlight & 2 new tires on back. We got groc. & Jerry get things for sunday school party & graduation cards.

We came home at 2:45 & Kay went over to school to decorate & I washed another batch of clothes & got my books up. Jerry got supper & we ate at 5: Kay didn't come until 6:

Ivard & I, Jerry, Kay & Gene went to high school graduation. Kay went with Puch after. Came home & Ivard got called back to work on Rail Road for midnight.

Wednesday, May 21, 1958

got Kids off to school and washed 2 batches of clothes & worked on my puzzle. at noon Ivard & I went to Nampa & Ivard signed up for compensation, were going to get motor tune-up but it would have been too late so we didn't. picked Duaine up at sale & brought him home. had root beer & got a gal. for tonight, got a hose & went to dairy & got a gal. of icecreame. came home at 2:45 & Dale & I went to Primary. his class had a party for mothers. We came home at 5:45 & Jerry had supper ready, chilli We ate and & Ivard & I, Kay, Ray & Gene went over to high school to Gene's graduation from 8th grade. We gave him a white shirt, gold belt & red & black tie & socks. He wore Kays dark grey pants & grey sport coat. We came home after & had root beer floats & went to bed.

Kay went with Mills after.

Tuesday, May 20, 1958

I got breakfast & got Kids off to school and washed 4 batches of clothes and worked on my puzzle all day. I rode to Wilder with Ivard to get a hair cut.

We ate and Ivard & Kay took off for Vale in car, to play ball. I got ready & Jerry & I headed for relief society & sunday school meeting in Pick-up & saw our car parked up at high school so we traded cars. They'd gone on bus. I waited an hr. after relief society for Jerry. We came home & had some punch & watched T.V. Ivard got home about a half hr. after we did.

Monday, May 19, 1958

Got Kids off to school & sorted clothes & washed 3 batches. Worked on my puzzle contest all afternoon.

Jerry got supper & Ida came to get him to do some typeing. We ate & Ivard, Dale, Jackie & I went to Adrian & got Kay from practice I got books up & had a bath and Ivard & I, Kay, Gene & Jerry went over to high school to class night. Kay got a Pin for 50 words in type & one for pep club.

It sure was hot today.

Ivard watered all day.

Kay went with Hammond after We came home & had some punch & watched T.V.

Sunday, May 18, 1958

We got done work at 6:15 A.M for summer. came home & went to bed until 8:30 then got me & Jackie ready & we all went to Priesthood & sunday school. Gail came home after church & we fixed dinner & ate & Jerry went over (Gail took him) to Duaines & went to Nyssa to sunday school meeting.

I went to bed this afternoon & Gail went home. Earl came home from church & stayed until dark.

Gene did chores & Ivard, Jerry, & Ray set water then Ivard, Jerry & I went over to high school to Baccalaureate.

Kay went to Baker after Priesthood with Pete & theywere late to Bacc.

We watched Kraft & went to bed.

Saturday, May 17, 1958

I came home from work & made out payments to mail then Jerry & I went to Caldwell to bank, got Gene some graduation presents, got groc. & some icecream at dairy. Came home at 2:30 and I went to bed until Jerry got supper ready. Ate & went to bed but couldn't sleep. We had to call in between 8 & 9 to see if we work. Audrey called & called me at 9: to say we did. I went to sleep about 9:30.

Kay went to show with bunch of Kids.

Ray did up the work. Ivard watered & watched ball games & cleaned ditch.

Friday, May 16, 1958

I came home from work & went to bed and Ivard got me up at noon & we went over to high school & got 4 ball players and went to Huntington to ball game. We won 4 to 0. stoped at Ontario on way home & had a milk Shake. There was 3 cars of us. The school bought gas, filled up at Websters when we got home. Came home at 6:30 & ate & Gene did chores & Ivard, Gene, Ray Dean & Dale went over to school to Music festival. Kay drove up to Jim's & went swimming.

I went to bed until time to go to work.

Dale went to school today for next years first graders.

Thursday, May 15, 1958

I came home from work and ate & went to bed & never got up until Kids came from school then I worked on my books.

Jerry got supper & we ate when Ivard got home from ball practice with Kay.

Jerry tended Kids, cleaned house & washed some clothes.

Lee came over & helped Ivard cut the big pig this morning, then Ivard cleaned ditch.

I went back to bed after supper until time to go to work.

Ivard, Kay & Gene went over to church to ball practice.

Wednesday, May 14, 1958

I came home from work & ate & went to bed. Jerry did up work & washed some clothes.

I got up at 12:30 and Jackie & I went to Nampa with Ivard to sign up for unemployment. & we had the front end aligned at Dobbs. We had a milk Shake at Caldwell & came home & Jerry was over takeing Dale to Primary & brought Ray home from school.

Jerry got supper. I got books up & had lemon ade & rode to Adrian with Ivard to get feed & Pick up Kids from Primary. We ate & Jerry, Kay & Ray went to Mutual only Kay didn't go, went with Pete & Jerry drove car. Ray stayed over to Durfee's all night to work tomorrow. Gene came home from there with Kids from Mutual.

Tuesday, May 13, 1958

I came home from work & Ivard & Kids were gone, they'd taken Gene up to Irvin Durfies to work for 2 days. came home & we ate & I went to bed & Jackie & Ivard & Dale went over to Adrian at 10: & had brakes adjustend then they took a load of Kids to Jordan Valley to ball game, we won. got home at 5:45.

I got up at 1: & Jackie & I went to relief society work Day in the Pick up. We came home at 4: & I fixed the chicken I cooked this morning & cooked some noodles & we ate when Ivard & Kay got home & Ivard milked then him & Kay went over to church to ball practice & I went to bed.

Jerry got home from Utah about 10: tonight.

Monday, May 12, 1958

It rained hard all night long. I came home from work & sorted clothes and washed 2 batches of clothes & bathed Jackie & cleaned up & ate while Ivard finished chores (he got up late) I went to bed & Ivard tended Kids & washed a batch of clothes & worked on my puzzle contest.

I got up at 4: and worked on my books & Kids came home & Gene got supper. We ate & he did chores & I got my diary up.

Cloudy most of day. got a letter from Dad & Mother & a special Mother day one from Mother. Dad has been made Branch President.

We ate & I went to bed until time to go to work.

Sunday, May 11, 1958

I got breakfast & Ivard washed Dean & Dales hair & I helped them bath while Gene did chores. I made jello salad & we ate & got ready & all went to Priesthood & sunday school. They had the little kids down staires for programe & Dale about ate the mike, everyone laughed. I got a big elephant ear bigona for most Kids there. everyone got a hanky. Kay took Jerrys place as secretary. We came home & I fixed dinner & we ate & Kids did dishes. Gail & Lynda came & brought me a pr. of Nylons. Dean & Dale gave me a card they made I worked on puzzle contest. We ate icecream & Gail went home. It started to rain this afternoon & never stoped all night.

Gene did chores in rain. I washed a batch of overalls. Ivard got his talk for tonight & him & all the Kids went & me & Jackie went to bed.

I went to work at 11: with Ida.

Saturday, May 10, 1958

I came home from work & made waffles for breakfast & after we ate I went to bed & just got to sleep when Lyle & Barbra came. Lyle got here at 2: A.M. & at 10: they left for Sacramento he had come to get Barbra so they could be interviewed by Stake President this week to go to Temple. I made a jello salad for Priesthood Party & Ivard killed & cleaned 2 chickens to take. I laid down again after Lyle left & Ray did up work. at 3: I took Kay, Gene & Ray over to church to Priesthood supper and Ivard tended Kids. Kids played ball & Ethel Stoker, Alta Gibson, Ilene Patterson & I fried chicken & cooked supper & fed 19 boys at 5:30. We ate & did dishes & at 8: we came home. droped Kay off at high school to plays. I went to bed I was so tired. Ivard cleaned Kids shoes for tomorrow. My night off.

Friday, May 9, 1958

I came home from work & got me & Jackie ready while Ivard finished chores & Dale got ready & we went to Nampa to Dr. Ivard had an appointment for 10:30 to see how his ex-Rays turned out. He has a slight ulcer. I was so glad, after, the Dr. said he might have cancer. I have prayed so hard that he wouldn't. We went to Caldwell to bank & got groc. Went to dairy & got icecream & calf feed. Came home at 2:30 & went to bed and Ivard took Dale & Jackie & went to Adrian & got feed & went to ball game, he umpired. Adrian beat Jordan Valley 19 to 6.

I got up & had supper ready when Ivard & Kids got home.

I went to bed & Ivard came too & wouldn't let me sleep.

I went to work at 11:

Ray scrubbed Kitchen tonight.

Thursday, May 8, 1958

We came home from work; & Jerry got laid off again. We bathed Jackie & ate. Lynda & Debbie came & wanted to go to town but we aren't going until tomorrow. Jerry talked about going to Utah with Lee & Syble & when I woke up at 2: he had gone.

Ivard watered today.

I cooked supper & we ate when the kids came home from school. Ray didn't come home until dark, he'd been over to church farm thinning beets after school.

Ray did dishes & Gene & little kids went to bed.

I went to bed until time to go to work.

Wednesday, May 7, 1958

I came home from work & Ivard was gone to hospital in Nampa for ex-rays. He had to be there at 8:30. We passed him up by work.

I ate & dressed Jackie and went to bed & Jerry did up work and washed some clothes.

Ivard got home about 2:

Kay went to Huntington to play ball & got beat.

Jerry took Dale over to go to Primary & I went & got them at 6: & went to Adrian & got butter & Jerry had supper ready & we ate. Jerry took Gene & Ray over to meet Bullen & go to Mutual then Kay got home at 7:30 so him & Jerry went to Mutual & brought Kids home. Ivard put Kids to bed & him & I went too.

I was just leaving for work when Jerry got called so he went with us.

Tuesday, May 6, 1958

I came home from work & ate and went to bed. Jerry tended kids & washed some clothes.

I woke up this afternoon & worked on the lesson I have to give tonight. We ate when Kids got home & Ivard & I, Ray, Dean, Dale & Jackie went up to Metcalfs to Terrys 2nd birthday party at 7 Ivard & I came home & got Kay & Gene & went to Adrian to ball game & left them & I went on over to relief society. I had to give Mrs. Shys social science lesson bore my testimony & bawled. Gail & Lynda brought Kids over to ball game from Metcalfs about 9: & it got rained out so be brought them all over to church, Ivard too. They got there just as I was comeing out. came home & laid down until time to go to work.

Monday, May 5, 1958

I came home from work and laid down awhile then I got ready & went to Nampa with Ivard to Dr. at 11: I got mad at Ivard cause he didn't want me to go in with him & went back out in car. Dr. said if he's had pain that long it could be cancer he has to go to hospital for ex-Rays Wed. I'm worried sick.

Jerry tended kids & worked on his sunday school reports all day. We had a hamberger & root beer. on way home. got groc. & stoped in Wilder & got a hose sprinkler. came home & laid down & got up & ate when Kids came home. Jerry had supper ready. had strawberry short cake.

Jerry went to sunday school meeting with Duaine.

Sunday, May 4, 1958

Gene did chores & I washed my hair & polished every bodys shoes & we ate & all of us went to Priesthood, sunday school & fast meeting. came home & Jerry & I got dinner & we ate. Gene stayed over to Drapers all day.

I laid down this afternoon Gail & Lynda came & got in ice box & fixed themselves dinner.

Ivard did chores tonight and I took Kids and went to Primary conference. came home & went to bed until time to go to work at 11:

Saturday, May 3, 1958

I came home from work and washed clothes & bedding all day and cleaned my bed room good and washed the window inside & out & the storm windows.

Jerry got supper & we ate early & right after we were through Gail & Lynda came and we played Penochle until Gene got chores done then him & Kay went up & got Barbra & Kids & Gail took them home with him to stay all night. We had icecream.

I went to bed early, I was so tired.

Ray got home from Scout trip.

Friday, May 2, 1958

I came home from work & Jerry Dale, Jackie & I went up & got Barbra & Kids & went to Caldwell shopping & I pd. Int. on place. Went to dairy & got icecream, cheese & calf feed.

got home at 1:30 & had a sandwich & punch & at 1: I went to bed. Gail came at 2:30 & woke me up & sold Jerry some Ins. Jerry made chilli & Jello for supper & we ate when Kids got home from school. I got books up & laid down at 6:

Ivard planted corn all day then broke planter & had to fix it.

after they did chores Ivard & Kay went to Adrian to ball game at 7: & at 7:30 I went up & got Barbra & we went to Adrian to ball game. We beat Harper. took Barbra home & came home & I got ready & went to work, Ida was late or I'd have missed her.

Ray left on an all nigh scout hike at 6: over by Givins

Thursday, May 1, 1958

I came home from work and went to bed. Ivard finished getting his corn ground ready. Jerry tended Kids & worked on his sunday school reports.

I got up at 2: and worked on my puzzle contest until 8: Jerry got supper and we ate when Kids came home from school.

Kay took Ray over to Millers & he finished cutting their lawn, got $2.

Ivard milked and him, Kay & Gene went to Adrian to tract meet at 7:30.

Ivard went & Pd. water this morning

I went to bed until time to go to work at 11: rode with Audrey.

Ivard & Kids got home just before I left.
