Monday, June 30, 1958

Ivard came home from work & checked water & went over & got Duaines trailer. I got books up & got breakfast.

Cold wind again today.

relief society teachers came this morning.

I changed beds & washed bedding & Ivard fixed bed & Jerry cleaned bedrooms & made beds.

I got ready to go to town & Ivard didn't have the right papers to take the bang cow so we didn't go.

I worked on my contest.

Jerry got supper & at 7:45 Jackie & I took him over to Parma & at 8:50 he cought Grey Hound bus for Ogden, for a week, he said. Ivard went to Adrian & met Mr. Mann & they did their ward teaching, in Adrian. watched T.V. & worked on puzzle.

Ivard didn't work today.

Sunday, June 29, 1958

Gene did chores & Ivard had to fix a wash out. Jerry, Gene, Ray, Dean & Dale went to report meeting, priesthood & sunday school. Kay went with Pete after & didn't get home until after midnight.

I cleaned up & made jello salad & meat sauce for spagetti & washed a batch of clothes & worked on my contest all day & until midnight just stoped to eat.

Ray brought Brent home.

It sure is cold, 32 degrees at yellowstone (west) nearly had to make a fire.

Ivard, Jerry, Gene, Ray, Dean & Dale went to church & I went on with my contest & put Jackie to bed.

Ivard just got home from church & had to go to work for 11:

Saturday, June 28, 1958

Gene did chores & Kay went to work over to Hartleys shed at 8: & never got home until midnight, went with Pete.

Jerry went to town with Duaine. I worked on my contest all day.

We ate supper & I went to bed about 6:30, I had such a paine in my neck & side.

Ivard didn't go to work today, they watched T.V.

Ivard & Gene watered & watched ball game.

Ray moped & cleaned up.

Friday, June 27, 1958

Gene did chores & we ate & Kay & I went to Adrian & got feed & took Rays book back to book-mobile.

Ivard watered and Gene cultivated corn. We ate supper at 3: & Ivard left for work at 4:

I got my tie-breaker on contest & I worked on it all afternoon and until Ivard got at 1:30 A.M.

Jerry went ward teaching with Duaine, Gene went with Mr. Finn and Kay went with Jesse. it was midnight before Kay got home.

Thursday, June 26, 1958

Ivard got home from work at 8: & went to bed.

Jerry picked the beans & I picked them over.

Jerry went to town with Duaine & never got home until 9:

I had a bath & at 1: Ida came & took me over to a surprise shower on Lova Strong.

Kay & Gene worked down to Bishops all day, got through with hay.

Ivard went to work at 2: for 3:

When I got home Jackie had fallen down & hurt her arm I couldn't get Dr. & no car so I put it in a sling. I thought it was broken but by bed time it was a lot better.

Vet came & we have a bang cow, Molly, & 2 suspects.

Wednesday, June 25, 1958

I got up & took Kids over to prune orchard to go to Primary washed 4 batches of clothes & helped Kids & Vet vacinate calfs he tested cows.

Kay took off for Pete's at noon.

I fixed Ivards lunch & went back to bed & he went to work at 6: A.M. he got home at 3:30 & went to bed.

Ray defrosted icebox.

Too wet to hay today. Kay went & got Kids, before he took off, over to Prune orchard.

Kay came home & had supper & went to jelopy races.

Kids didn't go to Mutual tonight.

Ivard had to go to work again tonight at 11: left at 10:

Tuesday, June 24, 1958

We got home from Salt Lake at 6: A.M. & unloaded car & Ivard & I went to bed & Gene did chores. got up at 10:30 & hung out a batch of clothes Jerry washed & him & I went to Caldwell to bank & got groc. Jerry bought me a hamberger, fries & orange. got gas in car & came home at 3:15. passed Ivard on his way to work. I got 2 laways out, overalls & material.

I washed 3 batches of clothes.

Kay & Gene worked 10 hrs for Bishop today.

Jerry got supper & we ate when Kids came. Gene did chores & Kay took off for ball game but didn't & went up to Petes. Jerry went to sunday school meeting. We went to bed early.

Monday, June 23, 1958

We got up & ate breakfast & headed for Grantsville to see Berniece. We visited & had dinner & head back to Salt Lake at 4: & went to Lees to see if Earl was going home & stoped & talked to Louie a min. Went to Bountiful & stayed to Ruths until Ivard, Gail & Gene came back from getting car greesed & oil change at Jim's station. We left Ruths at 7: & went down to Irvins & had supper & packed & I had a shower & we took Earls money down, he's not going home with us, then we went to Marv's for awhile & over to Alv's. At 10:40 P.M. we left for home & Gail & Lynda stayed to look for work. I drove from Snowville to Burley & we gased up. drove from Mountain Home to Boise & we stoped at Shack & Ivard marked up.

Jerry & Kay worked down to Bishops today & went to bed early. Had a bad wind storm here today.

Sunday, June 22, 1958

We got up at 8: & went up to resturant & had breakfast, packed car & went down to Dawnetta hot springs & Kids went swimming until noon. There weren't as many their this year. Annie, Sara, Fat, Louie, Wayne, Irvin & Ivard & families & Frank & Loretta, Lee & Syble, Ann. & some of Franks sisters & his Dad & one car from Idaho. they played ball & we visited then we ate dinner and Ivard & them went in swimming, I had to tend Jackie. At about 5:30 we left for Utah, Irvin talked us into it. Gail followed us. We got to Irvins about 7:30 & Ivard & I & Gail & Irvin took Earl over to Franks & drove up around looking how it has changed. We had hot dogs out on lawn & every one went to bed we were all so tired.

Kay went to Le Grande & to Baker with Gary & Pete. Jerry went to sunday school & to Smiths this afternoon & to grandpa Smiths tonight & let Ivard miss out.

Saturday, June 21, 1958

I took Kay over to Hartleys shed to at work at 7:45.

Ivard came home from work & loaded pigs (my 3) & went to bed. Jerry, Gene & I took them to Idaho Pack got $24.50 a hundred, weighed 610 lbs. went & had a root beer then got groc. & came home at 2: We decided to leave for Family Reunion this afternoon so Jerry & Ray made a meat loaf, cake & cooked potatoes for lunch & I washed 3 batches of clothes & packed & Nancy brought Earl over & at 5:30 we left. stoped in Caldwell & got Jackie shoes, & gased up & got a few groc. & at 6:15 we headed for Downey. We stoped at Rupert & gased up & had supper, hambergers, fries & milk shakes. left at 10: & got to Downey at 12:30 & got a cabin with 2 beds & rest of Kids slept on floor in sleeping bags. Gail left for Downey at 2: & took Mrs. Widmere to her folks.

Jerry went to a show with Duaine & Nancy tonight & Kay went to birthday party on Claudia Peterson.

Friday, June 20, 1958

Ivard went to Boise at 6: A.M. to work. I fixed his lunch & breakfast & went back to bed & none of us woke up until 9: when Gene got chores done. We had waffles & Jerry, Kay, Gene, Ray, Dean & Dale hauled all the hay on farthest hillside. I washed & tended Jackie & finished my iorning, 15 pieces. I got supper, meat balls & noodles, & we ate when Ivard got home at 4: He nearly got hurt bad, a tank of oil wasn't caped & it sloped all over him & wrecked all his clothes & he had to change into some of the yard masters, it was still hot too. They did chores & Ivard & I, Gene, Ray, Dean, Dale & Jackie went to Givvins swimming. Kay went Jack rabbit hunting with Pete, they came after him. We got home at 11: & Ivard was called to work again for 11:30. Two overtime shifts today & a dead head to Boise over $70. today.

Thursday, June 19, 1958

Kay left at 5: for Hammonds. Ivard got home at 7:45 & Ray, Dean, Dale & I took Gene up to Irvin Durfee's to work & Ray sold cards on the way home, sold 20 boxes, We went thru Munn's new house & got home at noon. Ivard went to bed when he got home & got up at noon & went down on farthest hill side & baled hay, came down & ate at 6:30 then went back up & finished it. Delone brought Gene home & he did chores. I iorned all afternoon, 40 pieces.

Ivard didn't have to work today but got called to go to Boise in morning.

Kay got through at Hammonds today, went to show tonight.

Wednesday, June 18, 1958

Kay left for Hammonds at 5:30 A.M. Gene milked & I took him over to Baxters to work.

Ivard went & borrowed Calahan's rake & did farthest hill side. Dean & Dale had a bath & I took them down to Bullens at 8:45 to go to Primary. I patched all day & made me a new apron.

At 11:15 I went to Adrian & picked the Kids up from Primary & we waited for 45 min. while they finished sharpening plow shears. Gene got through work & came home at 1:30, he had dinner up there. Ivard & Kids got all the hay hauled out above house. Nancy came over & used type-writter & Jerry rode to Wilder with Duaine, Earl was here all afternoon.

Jerry got supper & he drove Gene & Kay to Mutual. Kay got off at Adrian & went to jelopy races with Pete. Ivard had a bath & we put little kids to bed & went to bed. Ivard had to go to work at 10:30.

Tuesday, June 17, 1958

sent mother a letter

I washed a batch of overalls & took Gene over to Baxters to work & Kay took Pick-up & went over to Hammonds to work. Ivard went down to Millers after our plow they borrowed & finished baleing hay & Jerry & I went to Nampa at 8:30 & Jerry went to R.R. to see about clerk job then we took the car to Dobbs to have front end aligned, didn't do it right 3 weeks ago & its wore our new tires. I got my diary up for week while I waited and wrote to mother & mailed it. Jerry bought us a hamberger & orange at Reed & Bell in Caldwell. got groc. & came home at 1: Ivard took Plow Sheers to Adrian to be fixed & had to leave for work at 2:30. I washed 2 more batches of clothes & read new Red Book & put beet greens & beets on to cook. Jerry finished supper & we ate when Gene got home from work at 6:15. Kay didn't get home until 10:30. Duaine came & took Jerry to sunday school meeting & he got home at 11:30. I watched T.V. until it went off the air & Ivard came home.

Monday, June 16, 1958

Kay got up & went over to Hammonds to hay & Ivard cut the hay on farthest hill side. We took bed out of front porch & Ray cleaned it good & I washed their bedding & curtains & mended their spread & washed it, did 6 batches today Ivard & I & Dean & Dale left for Nampa at 11:30 to get Ivards check, he had to go to work at 3: so he stayed up their. We went & bought him some gloves & laid away a Pendleton Jacket for him & I got my sheets out of laway. Went to Dobbs & saw about getting car fixed tomorrow. Dean, Dale & I went to Caldwell & had orange & got Dean some sunday shoes & tennis shoes & Dale a pr. & went to bank then we went home & I finished washing & got front Porch bed back & Jerry made it. I worked on book & made out payments & Jerry & I went to Adrian & got feed & picked Gene up at Baxters on way home. he walked up at noon & worked. We ate & Kay came home & went swimming with Pete at 9:30 Jerry Gene & I went to Nampa after Ivard. had orange on way home, It was 12:15 when we got home.

finished Lyles 12 page letter this morning & we mailed them when we went after Ivard tonight.

I called Hammonds at 3:30 A.M to see where Kay was & he was just leaving to home, been to Caldwell drive-Inn.

Ivard left for Boise at 6:30 & was home by noon, got through early. he's done over there now.

Jerry, Kay & Gene went to Priesthood & sunday school, went & took Duaine. Nancy came & got Dean & Dale for sunday school. Jackie & I stayed home & I washed her diapers & cleaned up & moped Kitchen & made a meat loaf. Ray came home after sunday school, they took his clothes to him at church. I wrote a 14 page letter to Mother. Gail & Lynda came & we ate about 5: had a big watermellon. I started a letter to Lyle then we played Penochle & Gene did chores & Kay drove him, Jerry & Ray to church.

Gail went home about 9: & we all went to bed.

Ivard got a tan dress shirt & white sport shirt & pr. of Nylon socks & Shave lotion from Kids & pr. nylons from Gail.

Kids got home at 9:45.

Saturday, June 14, 1958

I got Ivards breakfast & lunch & he left for Boise at 6:30 A.M. Kay & Jerry went down & worked at Bishops until 2:, didn't have any more bailed, they had dinner there. I washed up all the bedding - 5 batches. Gene did chores & messed around, bailed a little hay & him & Kids had a nap then he had to go get bull in. Kay came home & took off over to Petes at 3: & wasn't home when we went to bed.

Ivard got home at 4: & Jerry & I dashed to Caldwell & got father day presents & groc. Came home & ate & I took Jerry over to Duains & they went after rose buds for Fathers day & never got home until midnight.

Gene & Dean did dishes.

Ivard baled a little & broke a little spring. Jerry made beds before he left & I put clothes away. We watched T.V.

Friday, June 13, 1958

I got Ivards lunch & breakfast & he left for Boise at 6:30 A.M. Jerry & Kay took Gene over to Baxters to work then they went down to Bishops & worked, they ate dinner there. Gene got through at noon & they brought him home. I washed some clothes. I had supper ready when Kids got home & we ate & Ivard & I & Jackie went up to Metcalfs in Pick-up & after Gene did chores him & Kay went to Lucky-Clover dance at Nyssa. I washed Kays hair before I left. They got home about 12:30.

We came home about 9:30 & went to bed.

Thursday, June 12, 1958

Ivard left for Boise at 6:30. after I got his lunch & breakfast I went back to bed & read. They didn't work today, it rained too much. rained 2 in. in Boise

I read all day & finished the book.

Kids laid around all day.

Jerry got supper & we ate when Ivard got home from work at 4:30

Wednesday, June 11, 1958

Jerry was 20 years old today.

Ivard left for Boise at 6:30 A.M. I fixed his lunch & breakfast & went to bed again & started to read Jerrys birthday book from Sharon, "Young Lions" I got up & took Gene over to Baxters in Pick-up then I took Jerry & Kay down to Bishops. at 9: I took Dean & Dale over to Prune Orchard to meet Audrey & go to Primary. I read all morning, don't feel good. Went & got Kids at 4:30 & came back & fixed dinner & Jerry & Kay came up & ate then went back to work in Pick-up. rained the out & they came home & Gene too, after 1:30. I made a bit bowl of potatoe salad & Jerry came home from work & did dishes. Ivard got home at 4: Gene did chores & at 7:30 we went up to Gails for Jerrys birthday & had a bon fire & roasted weineies & ate outside. I took the salad. It was rainy & cold but we ate out anyway. We went in & watched T.V. & Kay went to Mutual, when he came back we had icecreame & cookies & came home. Ray stayed rest of week.

Tuesday, June 10, 1958

Ivard came home from work & went to bed. I took Gene up to Baxters to work & Jerry & Kay went to work at Bishops at 1: Gail & Lynda came over on way to Boise to draw their money out of bank so I rode with them & Dale. We stoped in Caldwell & had root beer then went to Albertsons & got groc. We were onlhy going to be an hr. & it was 3:30 when we got home, too late to go to relief society work day. I had supper ready when guys came & Gene did chores.

Ivard got called for Boise in morning so Ivard & I, Gene, Dean & Dale went to Caldwell to "Terrace" & saw "Helen Morgan Story" & cowboy show was going to take Jerry for his birthday but he had to go to sunday school meeting. I took him over to Duaines.

Kay went to Adrian & had his picture taken at 7:30 with ball team.

Ray & Jackie went home with Gail & stayed all night.

Monday, June 9, 1958

got up at 7:30 & all met in Lobby after I had a bath & got ready & we had breakfast in hotel dinning room. Ham & strawberries & cream drove through the campus of University of Oregon then headed for home. gased up a Springfield. At 11:30 we stoped on top of McKensie Pass & climbed to top of look out but couldn't see much it was so cloudy & foggy & really cold, still snow up there. Stoped in Bend for dinner, ate at "Pine Tavern," had stuffed Pepper & strawberry shortcake. I drove to Burns & we stoped & had a sundee. left for home at 6:15. let Stanley out & gased up at Skinners, took Pete up & went up to school & left bats & took Mike home. We got home at 9:15. went 1136 miles

Rainy all day

unpacked & gave Kids their presents & went to bed. just got in bed & Ivard got called to work for 11:

Sunday, June 8, 1958

mailed Mothers letter

Got up & we all met in Lobby & Wards, Phil, David, Brent & Henry left for home & Jim cought bus for Corvallis. The rest of us went to the "Virginian" & had breakfast & left for home around by coast vie Newberg. We will take an extra day. stoped at Ocen Park & went down on beach & sat on a big rock & the tide came in all around us, some of Kids went swimming. We were there over an hr. Stoped at Depoe Bay & had lunch, Crab Louie. went up in Observation Tower & watched little boats on ocean left at 4:20 & drove down coast to Sea Lions caves & stoped & looked at everything. left Florence at 6:10 & went to Eugene & got a room at Osborn hotel then walked down town & ate at "Seymore," had half fried chicken. Mr. Sayre & boys went to show & Mrs. Sayre, Ivard & I went back to hotel then Ivard & I drove around & found a groc. store open, for Kotex Ivard bathed & we went to bed at 9:30

Jerry & all the Kids went to Priesthood & sunday school with Duaine. didint go at night.

Saturday, June 7, 1958

We got up at 9: & went to "Jollie Joan" & ate, buckwheat cakes & ham. Mrs. Sayre June & I went shopping, got presents for Kids & Jerrys birthday presents. Went back to hotel & ate lunch at hotel, cube Stake. June & I went shopping again & Ivard & Glen went to Foreign car show. We saw the Shriners Parade. guys went out to warm up & I got ready & wrote a letter to mother. Mr. Sayre came & got us women at 4:45 & we went to Multloma Stadium to State High School tournment. We played at 5: same team that beat us last year Gaston. We beat them 12 to 2 for State B Champions, got a big trophy & each player got a gold base ball. stoped it in 5th because we were 10 runs ahead. Kay got 3 for 3 hits. Watched A-2 game then Ivard took a load of Kids up to depot to go to Jantezan Beach. We watched half of A-1 game then went to "God's little Acre." after we went to Jolly Joan & had Shrimp got to hotel at 2: AM & Ivard bathed & I wrote some more to Mother.

Friday, June 6, 1958

I got up at 2:45 & went to Nampa & got Ivard got home at 4:30 & finished getting ready & at 5:40 A.M we went & got Foster & Mike & went over to high school & loaded up & at 6: we left for Portland. I drove to Le Grande, Ivard was so tired, & we stoped at "Royal" & had breakfast, I had ham & toast, left at 10: & stoped for a pop half way to The Dalles & I drove from there to Hood River where we had dinner, chicken fried stake. Left at 3:30 & went up through Bonnivle Dam & fish hatchery in rain Ward ran out of gas & we pushed him up to Troutville & we gased up. got in Portland at 6:45 & went to our hotel, "St. Francis". We cleaned up & walked down to "Jolly Joan" & had supper, "Shrimp Louie". Ivard & I went & saw "From Here to Eternity" & we'd seen it, cost $1.50 each also saw Randolph Scott in western.

Ivard came home & went to bed and we ate & Ray did dishes. I sorted clothes & did 3 big batches & Jerry got dinner & we ate at 1:45 & at 2: me & Jerry, Dean, Dale & Gene took Ivard to work for 3: & we went to Caldwell & Gene got some new work shoes & we had icecream cone & went down to Park & waited until 5: so we could get cleaning then got cheese buttermilk powder & 3 half gallons of icecream at dairy & came home. I washed a batch of socks & put clothes away, iorned my dress & Kay a shirt & patched him one & got books up. Kay went to ball practice & got feed. Ivard called at 9:30 & said he had to double, to come after him about 4: A.M he's going to lay off sick. I packed suit case & had a bath & went to bed at 11:15.

Wednesday, June 4, 1958

We got up & ate & I took Dean & Dale over to church to Primary at 9: A.M. & they went home with Mrs. Bullen after & had dinner & Vern brought them home at 2: & Floyd came up all afternoon. Ivard & I & Ray & Jackie went to Nampa & Pd car & baler & I went to Pecock Beauty School & had a real short hair cut & color shampoo. We had a root beer & got groc. at Caldwell. Came home & fooled around & at 3:45 we took Kay over to school to ball practice & We went to Nyssa & Paid Ivards $29.50 Court fine for takeing Cows to Nampa sale without Brand inspection. Jerry went with us & Jackie. We came back to ball practice. It was 7: when we got home & I made gravey & we ate supper We had a roast on & jello salad made & Ray cooked potatoes. Jerry, Gene, Ray & Kay went to Mutual & we all went to bed. Ivard left for work at 10: for 11: Kids got home at 10:30.

Tuesday, June 3, 1958

got up at 7: & showered & packed & at 7:30 we left for home by way of Bend. It was really raining nearly every bit of the way home. Stoped for breakfast at Chemuk at "Wagon Wheel" I had ham Omlet. at 9: stoped in Bend for gas & a pop. I drove from just out of Bend to Burns where we ate dinner at 1:50. chicken fried Stake. left at 2:50. let Stanley out home & gased up at Skinners. Took Pete home & stoped at school & took out bats. It was 5:50 when we got home.

We went 968 miles on our trip.

Jerry & Gene did 4 rows of beets today cleaned up washed some clothes, rainy. We had a snack & Ivard & I & Jackie went to bed at 8: we were so tired. Gail & Lynda came this afternoon Jerry said & again tonight after we went to bed.

Monday, June 2, 1958

got up & showered & had breakfast at "Blue Ox" me a glass of Juice. On way back to hotel we lost men so June had a nap & I wrote a letter to Mother & mailed it & sat in Lobby until Ivard came at noon we went to "Blue Ox" & ate Barbacued ham then headed for Merrill, 20 miles, to game. We won 3 to 1. Drove out across Calif. border & to Tullie lakes, a bird refuge, then back to hotel & cleaned up & back to "Blue Ox" for supper, "Prawns." Went back to hotel & Glen called Idaho Statesman then Wards & us & Kay, Pete & Stanley went to outskirts of town to "Tower" & saw "Vertigo." Rained all evening. came back to hotel & Kids went to the show we saw last night. Ivard went to bed & I read a story went to bed at 12: our time.

Jerry & Gene hoed beets down to Toms all day & Ray tended Kids. Jerry went to sunday school meeting with Duaine.

Sunday, June 1, 1958

I got up & packed & had a bath & we ate & at 7:45 we went over to Adrian & loaded suitcases & bats & got Pete & Stanley & headed for Merrill & sectional base ball play off. stoped at Juntura at 9:15 for Pop. stoped at Burns for gas & I drove to Lake View where we ate dinner, me Chow Meine. Left at 2: our time & got to Merrill junction at 5:30 & gased up & Mr. Sayre, June & I went to Klamath Falls & got the hotel rooms & Ivard & Glen took the boys out to Merrill to practice. We drove out & June & I went up town & had a coke. We went back to hotel at 6:45 & cleaned up & went to eat at "Blue Ox." I had fish & chips. After we ate Wards & us & Mr. Sayre went to show & saw Gary Cooper in "No. 10 Frederick"

Jerry tended Kids & him & Gene went to church & Ray stayed home & tended little Kids. Jerry went ward teaching in afternoon & was home the rest of the time with Kids.
