Tuesday, November 30, 1948

Started to snow & had to get clothes in. Add came just as I got her pies in for Bee hive girls to sell at farm sale. she waited & I got ready & rode over to relief society to work day. had a good lunch. Dortha Lee brought me home at 5:30. It snowed all day & sure is cold. We went to bed early. Kids wanted to go to Primary doings but roads were too icy.

Monday, November 29, 1948

a nice day. I did my washing. Started late & didn't get them all dry. Ivard went & worked 2 hrs. at potatoe cellar. came home at noon & plowed until dark. I did all my iorning but starched things. Lee came at 8: & took us over to Adrian to basketball games. we about froze to teach. Ivard refereed 2 games.

Sunday, November 28, 1948

Ivard & Kids went to sunday school with Carlson & I cleaned up house. Lyle went to Balentines & Gail over to Nortons. Ivard bought Mr. Carlsons car home cause he went to Weiser. We ate & at 4: went over to Stans. Ivard took car down to church to Mr. Carlson & Louise went & got him. We were going to show but Stan got a kinked back. Louise brought us home at 11:

Saturday, November 27, 1948

Roy let Ivard take a little one seated car with window out & we took Lyle & Gail to Parma Xmas shopping & Gail got a new coat. Gail went home with Lee & we went to Nampa to see Rail Road ate & came home at 3:30 & went over to Glens until dark & Ivard had his hair cut. Lyle walked over to Lee's while we were gone & stayed all night

Friday, November 26, 1948

fixed Ivards lunch & Roy came & took him to do beets. washed my hair & had a bath & Mr. Carlson came & took me down to Bullens to stork shower. Martha brought me home & got her Avon. It was after dark & Lyle had little kids down to end of our place in his cabin. cold wind. Norton came over & stayed all night. Gail & Jerry were over there all day.

Thursday, November 25, 1948

did up work & made rolls & got dinner going. Syble came about noon & we cooked chicken made dressing & Syble made her mince pies. We ate our Thanksgiving dinner at 3: & Syble Lee, Ivard & I played chinese checkers. we did dishes & Ivard went with Lee to do chores. we had 2 kinds of pie & played anti-up rummy till 11:15. nice day, rained a little tonight.

Wednesday, November 24, 1948

Ivard went with Roy over to do Olsens beets. I spent all day scrubbing & cleaning house. We ate supper & Kids did dishes. I made 3 carrot puddings & Ivard cleaned a rooster. We played penochle till midnight while puddings were cooking. Played with Lyle Gail & Jerry. had a box of choclates Ivard won at [word not legible]

Tuesday, November 23, 1948

Ivard didn't go to beets today. He cut Gene & Ray's hair & we played penochle. Joe Jaughn came. Roy was supposed to come & haul our other beets but he didn't. I got supper & we went to bed early.

Monday, November 22, 1948

Kids stayed home & helped Ivard finish topping our beets, just the 3 of them I made 4 pumpkin pies & at noon we ate & Ivard & I took 2 pies & went down to Roy's sale. I had to help sell the lunch. Ivard brought the truck home & loaded up & Roy came up & took it in.

Sunday, November 21, 1948

nice day. no one went to church we played cards until noon then Ivard & Kids went out & topped beets & I got supper. Lee & Syble came over for a couple of hours to plan Thanksgiving & borrow my pie Pans. Kids did dishes.

Saturday, November 20, 1948

cold but they worked in beets. last day the other guys helped us. beets not good enough. they hauled 2 loads. Lee came over at noon & took me over to Parma after groceries. I laid around all day I sure felt awful. didn't get any work done.

Friday, November 19, 1948

It rained today so Kids went to school & we didn't do any beets. Ivard & I laid around & played penochle all day. In afternoon Ivard worked out side awhile.

Thursday, November 18, 1948

We got two loads of beets out today. Lyle & Gail stayed home and helped. I got my clothes in & put away and did a little patching.

Wednesday, November 17, 1948

Lyle & Gail stayed home & topped beets. they finished up to Wooly's at noon & came down & started on ours. hauled one load. finished my iorning & Mrs Ricks came & we went teaching. had a half hr. blizzard then it was nice again.

Tuesday, November 16, 1948

Kids didn't go to school again today. Ivard & Lyle & Gail went up & topped beets at Woolys. I did my washing & got most of it iorned as I brought it in. I sure was tired tonight. We ate & went to bed early.

Monday, November 15, 1948

Kids didn't have to go to school today. Ivard went to Nampa with milk man after his check & got back home at 2: Kay got a card & $7. from Dad & mother for his birthday. I wrote mother. Lyle & Gail went up to Wollys & topped beets.

Sunday, November 14, 1948

Kids all sent to sunday school but Ray & Kay. Mr Studyke came & took Ivard & Kay over to pasture to get our calves. Made two trips. I made Kay birthday cake & Jellow & we had his birthday dinner. Melvine & Jimmy came. Lyle went to church. we went to bed early.

Saturday, November 13, 1948

Ivard & Kids went & did beets. I scrubbed & cleaned whole house good & had a bath & at 1: Hickmans came & took us over to Parma & got groceries & Jerry got his Xmas Presents. We ate & Kids did dishes & bathed Ivard & I listened to radio & played Penochle.

Friday, November 12, 1948

Kids didn't have to go to school today. Lyle & Gail & Ivard topped beets. I sewed all day. got supper & Ivard & I Played penochle. Jerry cought the beet truck & went over to Adrian & got meat out of locker.

Thursday, November 11, 1948

Warm day. Ivard did beets, didn't come home for dinner today. I sewed & chased cows all day. Lyle & Gail left school at noon & went & topped beets. Guys got home at 7: & did chores & we ate & Kids did dishes & Ivard & I played penochle.

Wednesday, November 10, 1948

Warm day. Ivard topped beets till 5:30 got thru with that patch. I baked bread & got dinner. this afternoon I sewed. Kids went to Primary. We ate & Kids did dishes & Ivard & I played penochle awhile.

Ivard topped beets all day. I did up the work and had dinner ready at noon. this afternoon I sewed on mothers birthday present. ate after dark & went to bed. nice day. letter from Louie.

Monday, November 8, 1948

Ivard got home this morning. I wrote mother, Bill, & Berniece. we ate dinner & Ivard went down & topped Beets for Stuyke until dark. we ate after they did chores & went to bed.

Sunday, November 7, 1948

Lyle, Gail, Jerry & Kay went to sunday school. Lyle went to Ballentines & Gail to Stockers. cold wind all day. I made chilli. Ray brought our beet digger home. Glen brought Bull over for cow (too late) then he went & brought Gail home for me. embroidered all afternoon. scrubbed house & bathed.

Saturday, November 6, 1948

Lyle and Gail went & topped beets all day. I did my iorning and sewed all day. It was quite cold all day, wind. I stayed up and listened to radio & sewed until midnight.

Friday, November 5, 1948

Ivard went back up to Nampa to work, with milk man at 10: A.M. I finished up my vanity set for relief society & hemmed the 3 pr. of pillow slips & hemmed 7 dish towels for mother. got Kids to bed & got books up & sewed. nice day, not very cold.

Thursday, November 4, 1948

fooled around with Ivard all morning & cleaned up house. We ate dinner & then Ivard plowed the garden & me & Gene & Ray Picked up 4 sacks potatoes. made a cake & got supper after we got Kids to bed we listened to radio & played penochle. nice day. cold wind.

Wednesday, November 3, 1948

nice day. We laid around all day playing penochle & loveing. Ivard tended cows & hunted. we ate & got Kids to Bed & played penochle again. President Truman won election, much to everyones surprise.

Tuesday, November 2, 1948

Ivard was going back to Nampa but never. Lee came over & they went out hunting pheasants & cut Lee & Nortons hair. I did my washing then help Ivard fix fence around stack yard & when Kids came we went down & gathered some corn. we ate & Ivard & Lyle did dishes. we got clothes in & listened to election returns & played penochle until 1:30 A.M.
