Monday, January 5, 1959

Conklin came & took Kay & Gene to Seminary, Gene milked at 5:30 A.M. Kids went back to school today. Ivard got home before Kids left, he went to bed at 9: & me & Jackie went with him & slept until 11:30. Got up & washed 2 batches of clothes & patched all afternoon. Ivard put squash on & peeled potatoes & I made scolloped potatoes for supper. He got up about 3: & went down to Bishops & told him we'd sell out for $24,000. he said he'd be up to look at it.

It snowed most of day, about 3 inches.

At 5:30 Ivard went to Adrian to get heat lamp for new heifer calf we had this morning & to get Kay from ball practice. We ate & I went to bed until 10:30, didn't sleep. Had to go back to work tonight - Ivard didn't work.

This is the day that things were set in motion to sell the farm and eventually move to Nampa. Actually earlier they had been looking for places in Nampa. I was in my senior year at Adrian and Gene his freshman year. Next month we would receive the sad news that Grandpa had died on his mission.
